Bath Life Magazine – Bath Abbey Traders Feature

Bath Life Magazine – Bath Abbey Traders Feature

A series of environmental portraits for a feature in Bath Life Magazine. These were all shot in one afternoon and I only had approximately 15 minutes at each location. The shoot was centred around local traders in the Bath Abbey area of Bath. Being a tourist area I had to be quick and cause as less disruption as possible so I used a simple one light setup and a balance of ambient light.  (more…)

This week saw me in Bath to photograph ex Bath and England rugby hooker, come Jika Jika owner Lee Mears. The images will be used in an article for the soon to be released Real Bath magazine.
The shoot was at Lee’s very own Jika Jika coffee Shop located in Brunel Square in Bath.  I arrived a little early to take some detail shots and enjoy a superb Jika Jika coffee. Then it was down to business.

Lee was being interviewed by Lizzie West from BBC West. As they chatted about rugby, coffee and life in general, I worked away in the background capturing Lee and the atmosphere. I used a couple of lens choices but it was my nifty fifty that worked best in the given space. Overall it was a great shoot. Both Lee and Lizzie were lovely as was the coffee. Would recommend you try it for yourself if your in the area. Check out the article in the Autumn issue of Real Bath out soon.

Beautiful Boudoir

Beautiful Boudoir

I was lucky enough to be selected to work on a shoot with pro boudoir photographer Andrea Dennis (Pinklilyphotography.co.uk) thanks to the guys at PhotoPlus Magazine. The article was to be run as a 10 page editorial feature so as you can imagine I was pretty stoked! The shoot took place in a large suite room in a posh local hotel in Bath which certainly set the ambience for the shoot.

The model was fantastic and obviously experienced. The room was well lit so natural light and a mix of fast prime lenses was undoubtably the best option. I love shooting with primes, they allow for a lovely depth of creativity and produce such natural fantastic image quality. I would shoot with them all the time if I could.! For most of the shoot I used a Canon 50mm 1.4 along with the superb 85mm 1.2.

Many thanks to the Photoplus team and to Andrea for great some insider tips.  I had many favourites from the day, to many in fact. Here is a selection.
