It’s one of those venues where everyone naturally relaxes the moment they arrive. Golden Hour in the Cornfields One of our favourite moments came later in the day. Although the dance floor was already in full swing, we managed to steal Chloe & Jake away for just five minutes as the sun began to drop. Right next to the marquee sits a beautiful cornfield, and with the evening light pouring across it, we couldn’t resist. Those few quiet minutes produced some of our favourite images from the whole day. The soft golden light, the peaceful countryside and the huge smiles on Chloe & Jake’s faces created exactly the kind of natural portraits we love to capture. Even their dog made a special appearance earlier in the day for the family photographs before wisely deciding somewhere in the shade was a much better place to spend the afternoon! A Dance Floor That Never Stopped Some weddings build up to the evening party. This wasn’t one of them. The dance floor was full from the afternoon onwards, with guests making the most of every minute. The atmosphere inside the marquee was incredible, and it never really slowed down. As darkness fell, everyone gathered outside for an amazing fireworks display across the lake. Watching the reflections sparkle on the water was the perfect way to end an already spectacular day. Then came one final surprise. Legendary drum & bass DJ Nicky Blackmarket took over the decks, keeping the celebrations going late into the night. Safe to say there were probably a few sore feet, a little sunburn and more than a few heroic hangover recoveries the following morning! Rachel & Charles got married there on Saturday and the weather kept everyone on edge for most of the morning. There was a lot of back and forth over whether the ceremony would be outside, with rain threatening throughout the day, but it held off at exactly the right time. They managed to have their outdoor ceremony, group photographs and couple portraits before the rain eventually arrived later on. One of the reasons a Priston Mill wedding works so well is because the venue handles every kind of weather naturally. When plans moved indoors later in the day, it never felt like a second option or backup plan. The Watermill has so much warmth and atmosphere inside that the day still flowed perfectly. For wedding photography, venues like this are ideal because there is texture and character everywhere you look. The combination of old stone, soft natural light and large windows creates a timeless feel in photographs without needing to overcomplicate anything. Even during darker weather, the venue still photographs beautifully. Derryn used the changing light and indoor spaces throughout the day to keep everything relaxed and natural rather than trying to fight against the conditions. That documentary approach works especially well at Priston Mill because the venue already has so much atmosphere built into it. For hybrid wedding photography and videography, the Watermill also gives plenty of variety throughout the day. Quiet corners for portraits, open spaces for natural moments and warm interiors for evening coverage all help create a wedding gallery and highlight film that feels complete and authentic to the day itself. After dinner, speeches came from the best man, father of the bride and Rachel & Charles together, before everyone headed straight into an evening dance floor that stayed packed for the rest of the night. A huge shout out also goes to Chris and the Priston Mill team for keeping the entire day running smoothly. Even with uncertain weather, everything stayed calm, organised and relaxed throughout. It wasn’t over-produced or staged, just a genuinely personal moment that caught everyone off guard in the best possible way. Bold colours and textured arrangements worked perfectly against the neutral stone backdrop of the Temple of Minerva and added even more character to the ceremony space. It was the perfect contrast to the calm, nature-filled ceremony earlier in the day.
