Hybrid Wedding Photographer
Wedding photography and highlight films captured naturally by one person.
You love the idea of having both photographs and a film of your wedding, but you’re not quite so keen on having a photographer and videographer following you around all day.
That’s where hybrid wedding photography comes in.
I’m Derryn, a hybrid wedding photographer capturing both photography and film for couples who want to enjoy their wedding without it feeling like a photoshoot or film production.
Using one camera setup, I can photograph your wedding while also capturing natural video clips throughout the day, bringing them together into a beautifully edited highlight film.
One person. One approach. One story.
And most importantly, you can get on with enjoying your wedding.

PHOTOGRAPHY + FILM. ONE PERSON. ONE STORY.
What is a Hybrid Wedding Photographer?
A hybrid wedding photographer captures both photographs and video during your wedding day.
Rather than having a separate photographer and videographer working alongside each other, I can capture both using one camera setup.
Your photography remains at the heart of the coverage, while video allows me to preserve the moments where movement, sound and atmosphere add something extra.
The cheers as you walk back down the aisle. Your dress moving as you walk through the grounds. Guests laughing during the drinks reception. The confetti flying. That first spin around the dance floor.
Those little pieces of movement bring another dimension to the story of your wedding.
The result is your full wedding photography gallery alongside a short highlight film that lets you experience some of those moments all over again.

Photography First, Film Alongside It
One of the biggest questions couples have about hybrid wedding photography is whether choosing both means compromising on their photographs.
It doesn’t.
Photography remains my priority throughout the wedding day.
I’m still looking for the expressions, reactions, light, details and little interactions that make your wedding yours.
Alongside this, I capture short pieces of video when a moment lends itself naturally to film.
There’s no stopping everything so I can recreate a shot for video. No repeating moments for the camera. And no turning your wedding into a production.
Everything is captured as naturally as possible while your day carries on around me.

Why Choose Hybrid Wedding Photography?
For many couples, having two or three people following them around with cameras simply isn’t what they want from their wedding day.
Hybrid coverage keeps things simple.
You have one person getting to know you before the wedding, one person working around you on the day and one consistent approach across your photographs and film.
It can be particularly well suited to intimate weddings, smaller venues and couples who want their photography and film to feel relaxed and unobtrusive.
And because I’m switching between photography and video throughout the day, you don’t have two separate suppliers competing for the same moments or asking you to do things twice.
You can simply enjoy your wedding while I concentrate on telling the story.
Hybrid Wedding Photographer vs Photographer & Videographer
There isn’t one option that’s right for every wedding.
A traditional wedding videographer can provide much more extensive film coverage, particularly if you want long-form recordings of your ceremony, speeches and other parts of the day.
Hybrid wedding photography is different.
It’s designed for couples who primarily want beautiful wedding photography but would also love a film that captures the movement, atmosphere and emotion of their day.
You still get your full wedding photography gallery, but alongside it you have a professionally edited highlight film bringing some of those memories to life.
Is Hybrid Wedding Photography Right for You?
Hybrid coverage could be a great fit if you:
- Want both wedding photographs and a highlight film
- Prefer a relaxed, documentary approach
- Don’t want a large photography and video team
- Feel uncomfortable being the centre of attention
- Want to spend as much of your wedding as possible with your guests
- Love the idea of seeing the movement and atmosphere behind your photographs
- Want your photography and film to have one consistent style
You don’t need to be comfortable in front of the camera either.
In fact, most of my couples tell me they aren’t.
My job isn’t to turn you into models. It’s to make the camera feel like the least important thing happening on your wedding day.

Wedding Photography & Film Across Somerset, Bath & Beyond
I’m based in Somerset, just outside Bath, and photograph weddings throughout Somerset, Bath, Bristol and the South West, as well as travelling further afield across the UK.
From intimate ceremonies at the Guildhall and Roman Baths in Bath to countryside celebrations at venues including Priston Mill, Coombe Lodge and Quantock Lakes, every wedding gets the same relaxed approach.
Wherever you’re getting married, the aim is simple: to capture your wedding as it actually happens rather than manufacture moments for the camera.
HOW IT WORKS
Simple. Relaxed. No Weird Posing.
1. Check Availability
Tell me your wedding date, venue and a little about what you’re planning. I’ll check my availability and send over the relevant options.
2. Plan Your Wedding
Before the wedding, we’ll talk through your plans, timings and anything particularly important to you.
I can also help with the photography timeline so there’s enough time for the photographs you want without your wedding feeling dictated by the camera.
3. Enjoy Your Day
This is the important bit.
You enjoy your wedding.
I’ll concentrate on capturing the photographs, movement, voices, laughter and all the little moments happening around you.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
Depending on the coverage you choose, your wedding can include:
- Documentary-style wedding photography
- A cinematic wedding highlight film
- A full online photography gallery
- High-resolution image downloads
- Natural, relaxed direction when needed
- Help planning your photography timeline
- Wedding photography and film captured by one person
